Last week saw the focus shift to Esposito in a twisty conspiracy murder. While trying to deal with a hostage situation, he also realized that he wants more out of his relationship with Lanie. Will he make good on his hopes of a family with her or have they reached their expiration point?
This week finds Castle getting to solve the murder of one of his beloved B movie stars.
The official synopsis for Castle season 7, episode 9:
“When the star of Castle’s favorite ‘80’s action movie is mysteriously murdered, Castle and Beckett delve into the victim’s secret past and pursue his killer with help from a team of aging action heroes. Krista Allen and Ted McGinley guest star.”
The episode will, of course, involve a couple of twists and turns but also some of the great Castle comedy that the stars, especially Nathan Fillion, can pull off so well. McGinley is a perfect casting choice with his background on sitcoms. He will be a perfect foil for Castle.
There are only a couple more episodes before the winter finale, which promises to delve deeper into the mystery surrounding Castle’s disappearance from the original wedding from last season’s finale. Hopefully the show keeps up with the current momentum and leaves us wanting more come finale time!
We knew that “Castle” was going to be having quite a bit of fun with the action-movie genre on its next new episode entitled “Last Action Hero,” but we’re now getting a sense of just how much fun they are really going to have.
This sneak peek below features Nathan Fillion’s Rick alongside guest star Ted McGinley and others, and there is a moment in here that is a clear mockery of “The Expendables” franchise. Nothing in here is entirely a shock, but it’s still good fun that reminds you that Richard Castle does not react very well to fire most of the time.
The best part of this sneak peek from a Caskett point of view is him claiming that he doesn’t want to do anything too crazy because his “wife is a cop.” Aww, they’re calling each other husband and wife! All is as it should be.
This episode is going to have a murder investigation sandwiched somewhere in there, but in all honesty, we really would not mind if they stalled on that for as long as humanly possible. We had a pretty serious episode last week, and given that there are probably more of these coming, we’re always down to have a little bit of fun. The silly episodes of “Castle” are typically the ones that we enjoy the most, especially when they give us a chance to see our main characters pushed outside of their comfort zone.
