The only three Europeans to win this WGC are Irish - Darren Clarke and Rory McIlroy from Northern Ireland, and Shane Lowry from Ireland.. This is the four-year anniversary of Tiger Woods' last victory on the PGA Tour and his eighth at Fireston.. Lee Westwood is playing in his 58th World Golf Championship without having won one.. Lowry, Hunter Mahan and Craig Parry are the only Bridgestone Invitational champions who have not won a major. The WGC now played in Mexico City has only two champions who have yet to win a major (Patrick Reed, Nick Watney).. Firestone hosted the 1975 PGA Championship won by Jack Nicklaus.. PGA Tour rookies Mackenzie Hughes, Wesley Bryan, Xander Schauffele and Bryson DeChambeau qualified for the field. Hughes also played the Mexico Championship.
